Yen 9
real web sites, for real people - at an affordable cost

Free Tools

Here are some free tools that we recommend:

One of the simplest ways to have a website with Yen 9 is to create a blog using a free (and easy to use) software program called Thingamablog. It is available at: http://thingamablog.sourceforge.net/.  If  a blog approach will work for you this is one of the easiest ways to get your site up quickly.

If you need to manipulate photos (make them smaller so they will display fast on the web) try a free program called Irfan View http://www.irfanview.com/.  There are other programs out there and most of them work well. This one is free, easy to use and has a lot of power.

Creating traditional "web pages" can be done a number of ways. Most geeks would not recommend creating your web pages using Microsoft Word, but it can be done. In the same way Microsoft Publisher can create your web pages for you. Such programs tend to create "bloated" pages. They tend to add unnecessary code which makes the files bigger and slightly slower to display. However, if you are familiar with these programs or any other programs that can save documents as html files then they will work. Open Office is a free "equivalent" to Microsoft Word (and more) is available at http://download.openoffice.org/common/instructions.html). If you do not have something you are already familiar with to create web pages, then we recommend Kompozer. It is free, easy to use and is powerful. You can download it at: http://www.kompozer.net/.
